ICARUS Sports is expanding into martial arts by forging a landmark partnership with the International Sambo Federation (FIAS).
Sambo, which literally translates to ‘self-defence without weapons’, originated in the Soviet Union, and was developed to improve the hand-to-hand combat capabilities of servicemen by merging the most effective techniques of various martial arts. Many will be familiar with Sambo through Russian mixed martial artist, Khabib Nurmagomedov, the longest-reigning UFC lightweight champion, and two-time Combat Sambo World Champion.
Material from this thrilling discipline will be included in ICARUS Sports’ monthly TV Show, The Outdoor Sports Show, meaning guaranteed international exposure in more than 90 countries.
Ilias Grapas, Sales & Project Manager at ICARUS Sports, comments, “We at ICARUS Sports are very excited to be exploring ‘new lands’ and expanding into martial arts. We are very proud of the trust FIAS has shown, and we hope to share this magnificent sport and its exhilarating moments with audiences around the world!”
