ICARUS Sports and the International Kiteboarding Association have enjoyed a long-standing partnership, which kicked off in 2019 at the Formula Kite World Championships on the iconic Lake Garda, in northern Italy.
Appointed to manage media production and distribution, ICARUS Sports packaged highlights from each day’s racing for distribution on news, social and TV Sports shows, as well as delivering global distribution to well over 160 nations. Highlights will also be included in Inside Sailing and Kite Masters.
“The Formula Kite Worlds is the first IKA event ICARUS Sports will cover this year, continuing one of our longest standing partnerships,” commented Manos Kampas, ICARUS Sports Sales and Project Manager. “Kiting is one of the most exciting disciplines of sailing, and the season ahead will be packed with amazing racing in outstanding venues.”
There are numerous stunning kiting locations around the world and Lake Garda ranks amongst the most spectacular. The breeze is renowned for kicking in like clockwork in the afternoon, guaranteeing perfect kiting conditions on the race tracks off Campione – all surrounded by the spectacular Dolomite mountains.
An impressive 87 men and 28 women from across the globe fought it out for their respective crowns, and also tested a new mixed relay format which is planned for the Olympic Games, where kiting makes its debut in Paris 2024.
Neck and neck racing eventually saw the Formula Kite World titles go to the USA’s Daniela Moroz in the women and France’s Nico Parlier in the men.
