The majestic setting of Vouliagmeni Bay, Greece hosted the 7th edition of the XTERRA Greece Championship, the second stop on the 2019 XTERRA European Tour, from 20-21 April.

XTERRA is a series off-road triathlons and trail runs in some of the most diverse, spectacular and challenging natural environments in the world. Known as the Athenian Riviera, and located just 20 minutes outside the capital city of Athens, Vouliagmeni Bay delivers a perfect race track of mild climate, stunning landscape and crystal waters for this challenging multi-sports event.

Athletes can race individually or as a team in a relay format, with full Olympic distance and sprint distance races on offer across the swim, bike and run stages. The course is one of the fastest in Europe, featuring three significant climbs, as athletes pitch themselves against the elements in feats of endurance across open water and off-road terrain. Attracting a mix of amateur and professional participants, all were chasing personal bests, age group and overall titles as well as targeting points to advance in the XTERRA European Tour and potentially qualify to the XTERRA World Championship.

As media partner, ICARUS Sports produced social media videos, daily highlights videos, VNRs for TV news and a 22-minute post-event documentary, backed up by distribution to over 160 nations around the world.

“It was a great race in a magnificent location,” said Nick Dimitropoulos, ICARUS Sports Sales Director. “XTERRA is one of the biggest triathlon events in Greece and ICARUS Sports is proud to be part of it.”
