The sixth annual 2019 XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship off-road triathlon festival weekend was set for 30-31 March 2019, at Kenting National Park on the southern tip of Taiwan.
The first of five majors on the 2019 XTERRA Asia-Pacific Tour, Taiwan attracted a star-studded elite field including reigning XTERRA Asia-Pacific men’s Champion Bradley Weiss from South Africa, two-time and reigning APAC Tour Champion Sam Osborne and defending Kenting race winner Lewis Ryan from New Zealand.
Off the back of a successful partnership in 2018, ICARUS Sports has again been appointed as media partner to manage production and distribution of the event.
“Kenting is a world-class event and provides a magnificent experience for competitors,” commented Nick Dimitropoulos, ICARUS Sports Sales Director. “Our media team head back to Taiwan and delivered another successful package of enthralling coverage and worldwide distribution.”
The main race kicked off on Saturday 30 March, boasting a US$25,000 elite prize purse, 51 qualifying spots to the XTERRA Worlds for amateur racers, and a 100-point scale scoring structure for both amateurs and elites vying for XTERRA Asia-Pacific Tour honours. Other weekend events included the Xticer beginner distance off-road triathlon, trail runs, kids’ races, live music, local cuisine, cultural demonstrations, and entertainment for family, friends, spectators and racers.
