The 2019 RS:X European Championship features a record breaking entry list, as 345 sailors representing 42 nations are ready to contest the Olympic windsurfing event in men, women, youth and senior divisions.

Hosted at Club Nautic Arenal in Palma de Mallorca from 7-13 April, many athletes have used the preceding Trofeo Princesa Sofia regatta as their warm-up for the RS:X Europeans. The entry line-up includes both reigning Olympic Champions and World Champions, and there’s plenty at stake as athletes battle it out for podium places, whilst those seeking Olympic selection will also be jostling for position against their team mates, as many nations use the RS:X Europeans as part of their national selection trials.

ICARUS Sports has worked as media partner for the RS:X Class over many years, covering numerous Olympic racing events around the world.

“Familiarity with the class and sailors ensures ICARUS Sports captures all the best bits from the race track and shore side camaraderie,” commented Manos Kampas, ICARUS Sports Sales and Project Manager. “Racing in the RS:X is exciting and close. The star names will be hunted around the track and new heroes will be born as they battle through tough opposition. We know where the race battles are unfolding, know what’s at stake and know how to share the story of the six intense days of competition ahead.”

ICARUS Sports will provide production and distribution services, including daily highlights videos for broadcast and social, daily VNRs for TV news and post-event a 26 minute documentary. Media distribution will extend to over 160 nations around the world, alongside inclusion in the TV magazines Inside Sailing and Sailing To Tokyo.
