There is no better way for a season to start with a race full of action! The Formula Kite Open European Championship was exactly the fascinating race all the fans of kite boarding were expecting. The Formula Kite Open European Championship was exactly the fascinating race all the fans of kite boarding were expecting. The championship was held in Los Alcazares, Mar Menor, Spain from 19 to 24 March. ICARUS Sports was there to capture the passion and share the experience.

Just a few months before the Olympic Games in Paris, all the participants gave their best. With the Olympic tickets up for grabs, this kind of competition led to great races with unparalleled passion. The strong winds helped the riders to push themselves. The favorites in both the male’s and female’s races couldn’t perform below their standards in this race. Max Maeder, the World Champion from Singapore, was the undisputable favorite and won the European Championship for men. The 17 years old rider was one of the youngest participants. Axel Mazella and Riccardo Pianossi clinched the second and the third place respectively. The rider Lauriane Nolot, managed to win the female’s race, leaving behind Jessie Kampman and Poema Newland. No space for another ethnicity in the podium, as France dominated with these three female riders.

Highlights from the abovementioned action will be shared with the fans through ICARUS Sports series ”Kite Masters” and ”Sailing to the Games – Paris Edition”. Nikos Koutroupis, Business Development Manager of ICARUS Sports stated: ”ICARUS Sports traditionally supports the International Kiteboarding Association and once again this partnership led to great results. Our team successfully captured all the great moments from the fascinating Formula Kite Open European Championships. In a season full of exciting races, everyone should stay tuned for the World Championships.”
