Free diving from cliffs, known as cliff diving, is one of the world’s most extreme sports and during the last weekend in June all eyes will turn to the high diving competition and night show in Agios Nikolaos, Crete.
From 28-30 June 2019, the world’s best cliff divers will again return to the cliffs above Lake Voulismeni, which is located directly in the centre of the city providing the perfect natural stage for the international divers to show off their somersaults and twists from the twenty metre high platform. During the day the entry line-up of twenty-one divers will compete in divisions for solo divers and synchronized teams, and in the evening the star attraction is the ‘son et lumière’ display show.
Alongside the two days of competition for professional divers, children of all ages will have the opportunity to learn techniques and tricks from the world’s best. The diving platform at Lake Voulismeni starts at a height of about 2.5 meters and children will be offered masterclasses to learn how to dive safely into the water.
ICARUS Sports has been appointed to manage the broadcast distribution for Agios Nikolaos Cliff Diving and will provide TV News and online distribution, as well as inclusion in the TV magazine, The Outdoor Sports Show.
“Cliff Diving is awe inspiring to watch, as the athletes deliver incredible feats of athleticism, aerial acrobatics and bravery in their quest for the ultimate dive,” commented Alkis Fakiris, ICARUS Sports Sales Manager. “Set against the amazing scenery of Agios Nikolaos, this event is set to achieve a huge take-up by broadcasters worldwide.”
