The 2025 Ultra Gobi, held from late September through early October in the Gobi Desert near Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China, marked the 20th edition of this iconic endurance event. Runners took on ultra‑distance challenges such as the 400 km non‑stop self‑supported Ultra Gobi, as well as 121 km solo and team formats, shorter stage races, and cultural hiking treks. The race traversed ancient Silk Road terrain, UNESCO heritage sites, and sweeping desert landscapes, combining physical endurance with cultural immersion. Beyond the competition, the event emphasized environmental protection, desert conservation, and the spirit of community among athletes, volunteers, and local heritage.
ICARUS Sports handled the production and distribution of race footage for the 2025 Ultra Gobi, delivering a comprehensive media package that captured the essence of the event. On the production side, our team created 6 highlight-edited videos, 2 raw footage videos, 9 short-form (30-second) social media clips, and is set to produce a full documentary. For distribution, we delivered the two Video News Releases (VNRs) to broadcasters, shared the highlights with digital media platforms, and will feature the event in our in-house show dedicated to outdoor sports, ensuring the race reaches a global audience across multiple platforms.
Through powerful storytelling and dynamic visuals, ICARUS Sports brought the raw beauty and relentless spirit of the Ultra Gobi to life, ensuring its legacy echoes far beyond the desert sands.
Lili Tang, Business Development Manager at ICARUS Sports proudly stated: ”With my team being on-site, supporting the Ultra Gobi project from behind the scenes was incredibly rewarding. This collaboration truly showcased how powerful storytelling and teamwork can bring such an epic race to life for audiences worldwide.”
